Late Blooming Lilac (Syringa villosa) is similar to its relative, the common lilac, with a few notable differences. The blossms are most prevalant on new growth rather than old growth and the color is rosy to white. This variety can grow to about 10' in height and requires full sun for best flowering. Blossoms appear weeks later than the common lilac so if you wish your lilac at home would flower for just a bit longer this may be just what you are looking for. Sargent Crabapple (Malus sargentii) is the real show-stopper in May when the fragrant flowers emerge. This ornamental shrub grows to a compact 6' at maturity. Price is for a bundle of two year seedlings that are a small 12-14" tall.
Silver Maple (Acer saccharinum) is a relatively fast-growing tree that is adaptable to different conditions. It will even tolerate damp areas giving it also the name Swamp Maple. At ten years old the sapling will stand about 26' tall.This tree does best in full sun and you can expect it to grow to between 49-82' tall at maturity having bark that will be shaggy and gray. The tallest of the hardwoods native to the eastern part of the United States Liriodenderon tulipifera will top out at about 160' at maturity. It is a fast-growing tree that has greenish-white blossoms in beginning in about April. They produce a lot of nectar that will serve and an important food source to pollinators and butterflies. European Purple Smokebush
Purple Smokebush (Cotinus coggygria) is an ornamental native to central Asia and China that is popular for the purple feathery plumes that grow after flowering. The Smokebush is a large tree-like shrub reaching 12-15' tall at maturity and is used for purely decorative purposes in landscaping. The Manchurian Crabapple (Malus baccata 'Mandshurica') while threatened in its native area of Russia and China it is cultivated in the United States as an ornamental. It is shade tolorant and will also tolorate extremely short termed flooding. The flowers are between May and June and the fruit follows soon after. Lynwood Gold Forsythia

Beach Plum (Prunus maritima) is a nativie of the Masssachusetts coast but is a very useful variety the Berkshires. While it only grows to about 4' tall at maturity it thrives in poor soils and is very salt tolorant which makes it perfect to plant along roadways where other plants are killed off by the salt used during our Berkshires winter.
