Taryn LaScola, will discuss how the (MDAR) Apiary and Pests Programs work together to minimize risks to honeybees from pesticide use.

Taryn LaScola, has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Westfield State University. She has seventeen years’ experience working for the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR), where she is the Director of the Crop and Pest Services Division. She oversees the three programs within this division: Apiary, Pesticide, and Plant Industries programs. Before becoming director in 2016, she was an Environmental Analyst and Chief Inspector for the Pesticide Program.

Pollinator Health and Pesticides:

The presentation will include information on honey bee health in Massachusetts, along with the environmental factors affecting pollinators. Taryn LaScola will provide an overview of the MDAR Apiary and Pesticide programs with an emphasis on how they work together to minimize risk to pollinators from pesticide use. Information on pesticide regulations and their proper use will be provided
